This two-storey Pennsylvania-German building is constructed of buff brick with fieldstone for the ground-floor sidewalls. The gable end walls display round, ribbed iron plates, which are anchor points for ties holding the walls together. George Pfaff built the house in 1859, shortly after he arrived in Canada from Germany. Pfaff and his wife were tailors, and their house was also their place of business. The house has also seen use as a hotel.
