This house was built in the latter half of the 1870s for Simon Snyder, one-time mayor of Waterloo and one of the founding directors of Dominion Life Assurance Company. Snyder lived here until his death in 1902. This is a two-storey house constructed of buff brick. The building was renovated in 1929 by architect Bernal A. Jones, resulting in the building being stuccoed and an enclosed front porch, solarium, and second-storey balcony being added.
