Historic Waterloo

Name: Seagram machine shop (former)
Address: 9 Father David Bauer Drive
Year Built: ca. 1858
Heritage Status: Designated (Part IV)

Originally part of the Buehler Foundry, whose main building was at the corner of Erb and Foundry (now Euclid), the single-storey Seagram maintenance building has served several purposes over the years, including a foundry, stables, storage shed, cooperage, and machine shop. This building features segmentally arched, double-hung windows, engaged brick pilasters, corbelled brick, and spandrels around openings. After the demise of the Seagram distillery, the building became Solé Restaurant & Wine Bar. The interior retains some of the historic feel of the building.
