Historic Waterloo

Name: Snyder-Seagram House
Address: 50 Albert Street
Year Built: 1905
Architectural Styles: Edwardian
Heritage Status: Designated (Part IV)
Builder: Charles Moogk

Built by Charles Moogk for Herbert Snyder, owner of Snyder Bros. Furniture, in 1905. An Edwardian Classical house constructed of poured concrete, an uncommon building material in Waterloo at that time. There is a double-car garage, also of poured concrete, facing Dorset Street. This house is very similar to Alfred Snyder's house at 39 George Street, also built of poured concrete by Charles Moogk around the same time. Edward F. Seagram later purchased the house and it remained in the Seagram family until 1990 when it was purchased by cosmetic surgeon Dr. Peter Wyshynski. The building has since been used as a cosmetic surgery clinic.
