Jacob Stroh House, 72 Erb Street East
A 2½-storey house built in 1891. This vernacular Queen Anne building with Italianate influences is constructed of salmon coloured brick. There is a fieldstone and brick lintel over the first floor window. This house was originally the residence of Jacob Stroh, who owned a tannery behind the house on what is now Laurel Street. Stroh was a Waterloo town councillor in 1896, and was a local historian, naturalist, and amateur archaeologist who acquired a large collection of Indian artifacts.
