Eby-Snider House, 78 Erb Street East
Originally the residence of David Eby. After the deaths of David and his wife Mary, the house was sold to Martin B. Snider in 1905. Both Eby and Snider were former farmers who retired to the town. The house is a two-storey buff brick structure on a stone foundation. It is built in the Italianate style, as many Waterloo houses built in the 1880s for relatively affluent people were. Design elements common to that style found in this house include a hip roof, paired eaves brackets below a wide eaves overhang, and paired long, narrow two-over-two double hung windows with relatively large panes. In order to support an appearance of symmetry, there are three blind windows. The stone-faced front porch is a later addition.
